Turning Torso model by Mehdi Danesh

Introduction
The task was to create a Building Information Model and a Parametric Design for a selected case study. For my case study, I selected the HSB Turning Torso designed by Santiago Calatrava, an eminent Spanish architect. The project is located in Malmo, Sweden and is recognized as the tallest residential tower in the EU.

Project Information
The Turning Torso consists of 54 floors grouped into 9 twisting blocks that twist 90°. The bottom 3 blocks consist of office space, meeting rooms and retail/restaurant space while the top 6 blocks are primarily residential space with a few large meeting rooms scattered on various floors to take in the views.

Conceptual Mass Modeling and Assumptions
As a whole, the building was composed of a single floor profile rotated by 90 degrees clockwise from bottom to top. The angle between each floor was 1.6 degrees. 5 Floors were combined to form a cube and there were 9 cubes in total forming the building. The angle between each of these cubes was 10 degrees and they were separated by one floor (open to the outside). There are total of 57 floors in this building. A cylindrical concrete core runs through the building and it encloses lifts, staircases and major services.
It assumed that all levels have the same height. In addition, I assigned 21 levels for the model because Revit crashed when I consider 57 flor to model the building.
The outline of floors is drawn by inserting a JPEG picture of the building into Revit and scaled the outline.

The modeling approach is shown through figures below.

21 levels were created and linked through related height parameters.

The central shaft was made of concentric circles at level 0 and level 10. The shaft is created by Solid Form and void form.

Project Level, walls, and roofs
The Mass model imported into the project interface. By Mass floor, floors are created. By wall and roof command which are located in massing and site tab, walls and roofs are created.

In the end, here are Five pictures of building with two different height which is done by define formula for each level height.

And here are interior and exterior renders of the building.
